Transporters to oppose toll naka system

MUMBAI, JAN 22: Maharashtra transport operators have decided to oppose collection of toll at nakas but have expressed willingness to give the tax by any other mode of payment.

In a telegram sent by the Maharashtra Rajya Truck Tempo-Tankers Bus Vahatuk Mahasangh to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vijaysingh Mohite-Patil and other concerned officials, the organisation regretted the toll collection by the State Government as the issue of collecting the toll by means other than the toll naka system had been raised by the Mahasangh with the previous government.
