Special courts, police to check power thefts

BATHINDA, JAN 22: The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) will set up special courts and police stations at district headquarters in the State to check power thefts.

State Power Minister Sikander Singh Malooka said here the PSEB police stations would register cases against theft of electricity by individuals. Special courts would be constituted to deal with such cases, he added.

Malooka claimed that electricity supply position in the State was satisfactory with all units of the Guru Nanak Dev and Hargobind thermal plants working regularly.

He said of the 62.8 million units generated daily on an average, 57.5 million units were consumed within the State.
