Rajasthan Cong expels 2 leaders for `indiscipline'
PRADEEP KAUSHAL

JAIPUR, FEB 5: The Rajasthan Congress today expelled two leaders former MLA Inder Singh Poonia and Nand Lal Poonia who filed their nomination papers against official party candidate Ram Singh Poonia for the Sadulpur assembly by-poll.

Rajasthan Congress president Girija Vyas, who announced their expulsion at a press conference, said the party decided to expel them after they failed to heed the advice to pull out of the race. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was present, said the party high command had decided to deny tickets to those who had been defeated in the previous election or had rebelled. This was aimed at checking indiscipline, said senior leader Nawal Kishore Sharma.

Gehlot and Vyas kept mum when asked why the same principle had not been applied to former Union minister Buta Singh, who had left, rejoined the party and had been re-nominated from the Jalore Lok Sabha constituency.
