Prasar Bharati review panel gets extension

NEW DELHI, FEB 23: The high-level committee set up by Government to reviewPrasar Bharati has been given two more months to complete the work after itsthree-month term ended yesterday.

Official sources today said Government agreed to give an extension of twomonths as the panel had requested more time since it could not complete itsreview in the given period.

The three-member panel comprising Infotech expert N R Narayana Murthy, CEO,Infosys as its chairman besides Head of Discovery Channel in India KiranKarnik and marketing expert Shunu Sen as members, was formed on November 22for a "comprehensive review" of Prasar Bharati, which controls Doordarshanand All India Radio.

R C Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, wasmember secretary while chief executive officer of Prasar Bharati RajeevaRatna Shah was special invitee.

The committee was set up to study Bharati and make appropriaterecommendations regarding organisational structure, legal framework, systemand other relevant areas to ensure quality, credibility and professionalismin Prasar Bharati.
