UP minister revolts, demands CM's removal
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

LUCKNOW, FEB 23: Prem Parkash Singh, a minister belonging to a constituent of the BJP-led Government in Uttar Pradesh, raised the banner of revolt on Wednesday against Chief Minister Ram Prakash Gupta demanding his immediate removal as he was "incompetent".

"It will be in the best interest of BJP if the Chief Minister is removed at the earliest as he is incompetent and the government under him totally inactive and ineffective," Singh, belonging to Jantantrik BSP, told reporters here.

"The bureaucracy is ruling the roost and no work concerning people's interests is being undertaken by the government," the Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, said.

Calling upon the central BJP leadership to immediately remove Gupta as it did so in the case of Kalyan Singh, the minister said his party, however, had no choice for chief ministership and whosoever is chosen by BJP would be acceptable to coalition partners.

Prem Parkash Singh recently voiced his unhappiness at the posting of a woman IAS officer in his department and had demanded her removal.
