Thakre not to seek second term
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

BHOPAL, MARCH 29: BJP president Kushabhau Thakre on Wednesday said he was not inclined to seek a second term in office. Addressing a press conference at Madhya Pradesh BJP office, Thakre said the next party president would be elected in the middle of this year.

He said that left to himself he would be happy even to remain an ordinary worker of the party. "There should always be some people in a political party who do not occupy any post," he said.

Replying to a question, Thakre said that he would not even shy away from going to Andaman if the party asked him to do so.

Meanwhile, the BJP president strongly objected to RSS being described as the parent organisation of the party and asserted that BJP had no links with RSS. Addressing a press conference at Madhya Pradesh BJP office here, Thakre said the two were separate organisations and free to take their own decisions.

Asked what he thought of RSS criticism of the economic policies being pursued by the Vajpayee Government at the Centre, he said even RSS was aware of the limitations under which the Central Government was functioning at present. Thakre said RSS knew that Vajpayee was heading a coalition Government which "had no option but to implement the agreements signed by previous governments."
