Society cannot enrol new members -- SC
In a ruling applicable to thousands of cooperative societies, the Supreme Court has held that administrators of such societies have no power to enrol new members, which is the sole prerogative of the elected committee of management.




Attack on AIR building fails, militant blown to pieces
Two persons, including the one carrying a bomb, were blown into smithereens and eight others injured, three of them critically, barely 100 meters away from the Srinagar stations of All India Radio and Doordarshan when the bomb went off prematurely around 5 pm on Saturday.




State will consider wider powers to mayors -- CM
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has said that the core issue of providing financial and executive powers to the mayors, whose terms have been increased to two-and-half years will be considered, since he himself was in its favour, in principle.
