US on Tuesday called for a renewal of ceasefire in Kashmir by Hizbul Mujahideen and restoration of the peace process amid reports of a breakdown in the dialogue between the militants and the Indian government.

Angered by what it called India's cold shoulder to its gesture of peace, the Hizbul Mujahideen this evening called off its ceasefire in the Valley saying that New Delhi had let down a golden chance.
