Cheetah skinned in Andhra village
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

CUDDAPAH, OCT 9: Close on the heels of the gruesome killing of tigress Sakhi at the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad, a cheetah was reportedly skinned at a village in this district.

However, there are contradictory versions about the incident which came to light only today though it took place on last Thursday. Locals said that the cheetah died of electrocution when it accidentally came in touch with a live electric fence put up by the farmers of Naguru village in Vempalle mandal to protect their crop from boars.

Farmers who noticed the dead cheetah on Thursday morning buried it near a canal close to the fields. But some persons who found out about the burial are said to have dug up the grave and skinned the carcass, taking the nails as well. The carcass is missing though the miscreants reportedly buried the it again. Some villagers say it could have been washed away into the canal following the heavy rains that lashed the village two days ago.

The death of the cheetah was confirmed by the village officer when the local Sub-Inspector visited the place today. However, villagers refused to speak about the incident.
