Three extortionists held
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE


MUMBAI, JANUARY 10: According to the police sources, a businessman received a threatening telephone call from the trio who claimed to be associates of the Chotta Shakeel gang and demanded Rs five lakhs as extortion amount.The accused also threatened the businessman with abuction amd murder.

Later the businessman approached Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) D Shivanandhan who entrusted the matter to the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime branch. The officers after gathering information swung into action and laid a trap for the three accused. They were arrested when they approached the businessman to collect the extortion amount.

On interrogation,the accused claimed they had used the name of Chotta Shakeel's gang only to put more pressure on the businessman. The operation was carried out by senior Police Inspector Pradip Shinde and his team.
