Sheetal Goutham stuns fourth seed for maiden title

New Delhi, Mar 9: Playing her maiden final, unseeded Sheetal Goutham upset the apple cart of fourth seed Swede Nina Wennerstrom to clinch the $5000 ITF Women’s Masters tennis title here on Friday. It was an easy 6-1, 6-2 victory for the 19-year-old, as she nullified the pace of Wennerstrom through her better placing and attacking volleys to down her in 52 minutes.

But Goutham, paired with Liza Pereira, bowed out of the doubles’ final to second seed Yamini Thukaiandi and Arthi Venkataraman 6-4, 6-2.
