He released a letter of the then additional DG (CID crime) Kuldeep Sharma written to the then Chief Secretary of Gujarat Sudhir Mankad in August 2005 regarding Ketan Parekh, the main accused in the Rs 1600 crore fraud in Madhavpura Mercantile Cooperative Bank (MMCB) which had gone bust in 2001.
BJP was not immediately available for comments.
Sharma, in his letter, had referred to an application of one Hasmukh Shah who had allegedly given details of how a broker Girish Dani had organised a meeting between the main accused Parekh and Shah, who was also a director in the MMCB, Modhvadia alleged.
Parekh was arrested for diverting money to play stock markets, leading many small investors to bankruptcy. "Dani met Ketan Parekh and he organised a meeting at his house in the first week of October 2004 between Shah and Parekh. It was decided in this meeting that Shah would organise withdrawal of SLP filed in the Supreme Court because he has influence as director of the bank," Sharma stated in his letter to the then chief secretary.
"In return, Parekh paid, during this meeting, to Shah Rs 2.5 crore. After that, Shah had prematurely got withdrawn the SLP in the Supreme Court," alleged Sharma in the letter. Shah was arrested by the CBI on Sunday in connection with the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. Sharma in the letter said, if the allegations are true, then the alleged bribe taking public servant (Shah) has to be proceeded against under sections 13(1)(d), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Sharma said subsequently, Shah had held a meeting on August 31, 2008 with state DGP and other police officials and director and CEO of the bank.
Sharma also provided details of calls made by Dani, Parekh and Shah to each other during that time.
Parekh was arrested by CBI, which investigated the MMCB fraud case, but subsequently he was granted bail by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmedabad on condition of his depositing Rs 380 crore in the bank in three years, he said.
Subsequently, Gujarat High Court also confirmed Parekh's bail when the MMCB approached the court, he added.
Thereafter, MMCB had filed a special leave petition (SLP) in the Apex Court seeking cancellation of bail granted to the main accused.

India doesn't have an extradition treaty with Italy. It was under UPA-I that he was apprehended in Argentina, and due to lack of the prompt action of the CBI that we are seeing now, he was deliberately allowed to go as no evidence was produced in the Argentine courts in the stipulated time. This can be read as nothing but a politically motivated move. Also, how can you comment with conviction that Mr. Shah was involved in conviction and murder? Despite what the media would like us to believe, the case is till sub-judice.
Mr.Shah may not have taken more money as Bribe than Congress's late Narsimaha Rao, Pt.Sukhram and uncle Quottrocchi from various sources. Besides, how much present UPA ministers may have made from Sugar Lobby and Spectrum Scam, still it is a big question than Amit Shah taking bribe from Ketan Parikh.
Amit Shah is very small in front of Arjun Singh as scandals are concerned! Even Indira Gandhi family members existence without scam is doubtful what they exist today!! Even Nehru deposition AS PM was wrong! Why Sardar was not made PM even though he was having highest members with him? Who is responsible for all chaos - ultimate answer is Congress Working Committee. Do they not have enough stupid burgers who cheat the common people? Just do the work to benefit common man & not waste money in unwanted case openings! Congress is trying to patch up by diverting issue of price rise. Remember public is not fool what they think & respond furiously to all causes when election time come. Congress would be routed out next election.
Supreme court is last standing institution in the country. Military has fallen in recent years. People must show support for supreme court. Speak up.

The CBI is apparently doing a wonderful investigative job. THey should next move to Tamil Nadu and sart invsetigating the deeds of Tamil Nadu's first family.Then they should move on to Karnataks and sequentially to other states to clean up Indian politics.Why should any government seek CBI investigation. When Sashi Tharoor fiance was invloved in IPL BJP demanded that Sashi be fired. Eventhough he did not profit , he was fired by Congress. What a stupid move. When Gujarat Ministers are invloved in scam and murderer BJP is crying CBI is corrupt, Supreme court is corrupt etc. The entire party is protesting and making a big scene. In between all the politically motivated sparring, it would do good to remember that no one has been covicted of murder or comspiracy. CBI has just given a chargesheet, which is mere accusation. The case is sub-judice and it is for the courts, and not for the lay individuals and media, to decide upon the case. So, so not jump the gun.

Well, a smilar question should also be posed to the individuals and media who brand the accused minister guilty. How can a media that should have been resposible, do this? The trial should be reported responsibily, and the verdict must be left to the courts. None of us are oracles.

Another accusation. Now it is clear that the issue is politically motivated. In fact with such planned chain of events when every two days so-called new revelation are coming in, shows the strategy to simply discredit the Gujarat government in public eyes, through the media, and try to reap the benefits in the elections. The kangaroo court that you mention of is being run by the media. Under what logic can a media trial be justified. It only heaps up bad publicity which will still linger even if the accused is cleared. What is the justificaion for such act. Also, why should one grudge Mr.Shah getting eminent lawers for defence. Even the 26/11 terrorist Kasab has been provided legal aid in India, whereas in any other country none would have battered an eyelid had he been lynched. So, why single out Mr.Shah? Let the court take the call and decide the case against Mr.Shah. Those crying hoarse against the delay of justice could help prod the CBI out of their slumber insofar as Anderson and Quattrochi cases are concerned.
