London Hollywood star Harrison Fords' action adventure 'Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark' has been voted as the best action movie of all time in a new online survey.

Editors of Moviefone.com picked the 1981 Harrison Ford blockbuster as their number one, crediting filmmaker George Lucas with creating "two hours of non-stop forward momentum", Daily Express reported.

The film directed by Steven Spielberg, was the first film in the Indiana Jones franchise and sees Indiana Jones played by Ford pitted against the Nazis.

It edged past sci-fi blockbuster 'The Matrix' to grab the top spot.

The third spot was captured by 'Die Hard' followed 'Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'.

Sci-fi epic Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back came in fifth, guaranteeing 67-year-old Ford a second entry in the top five.
