Singh, who lost his first wife and got HIV infection from his late second wife was appointed as an outreach worker in December 2007. His job involves counselling HIV positive and AIDS patients.
He said, "After meeting the couple I got to know that in a hope of getting the right treatment, they have sold everything they had. They both are now mentally and physically exhausted. I took them to the ARTC (anti retro viral therapy) Centre at Jalandhar and helped them in getting the treatment which costs about Rs 6,000 per month." The couple was also made aware about necessary medicines that need to be taken at their stage."
Singh is also the President of Punjab Networking of Positive People Society. He has already made many people aware about the disease in different districts of the state.
The society's founder chairman Jagjit Singh Maan too has made an appeal to the public to get their HIV tests done through the ICTC (Intergrading Counselling Testing Centre) in their area so that treatment can be started on time. He also appealed to the public not believe in superstitions for getting rid of the disease.

Jagjit Singh Maan said Punjab Networking of Positive People Society has two helpline numbers for helping HIV positive/AIDS patients. He said that any such patient can contact 998887623 and 9463140554 for any assistance.
