1 held for filing false complaint of snatching

Ludhiana, February 7 One person has been arrested for filing a fake complaint that he had been robbed of Rs 53,000 by two youths on a motorcycle.

On Wednesday, Gurcharan Singh had told police that two-motorcycle borne youths had snatched Rs 53,000 from him, which he said he had collected from a shopkeeper and was supposed to give to his employer.

Gurcharan Singh had claimed that the incident had occurred in Rishi Nagar Colony yesterday around 5 pm. Singh, who works with a private firm, had gone to the area to collect money from a shopkeeper. He claimed that two youths snatched the money from him by blinding him with chilly powder. Police said Singh’s medical test proved that he lying. Singh later confessed to having lied. Police recovered Rs 69,000 from his house. Singh is learnt to have cheated his employer in the past as well. Singh has been booked for cheating and giving false information to police.
