Chandigarh, February 22 A local court today held guilty a person, Manjit, on charges of causing serious injuries and criminal intimidation. He was later released on probation.

A case had been registered against Manjit and three others on February 26, 2002.

The allegations were that he, along with three unknown persons, had assaulted one Charanjit Singh, resident of Badheri, and an Executive Officer from Punjab on their way back home.

The prosecution had alleged that the two had sustained injuries due to the assault. However, since the Investigating Officer did not appear in Court for several months to record the statement, the evidence was declared closed.

Exonerating Manjit of the charges of attempt to murder, the Court held Manjit guilty on charges of criminal intimidation and released him on probation. And about the three accomplices, they were not even traced by the police.
