The truck driver, Raja, had left the Kalamb steel factory with his vehicle loaded with angle iron, when he met with the accident near Hamidpur village on National Highway number 72. He died on the spot. His body was handed over to his family after post mortem examination.
Meanwhile in another accident, 37 members of a marriage party were injured, five of them seriously, when the canter in which they were travelling overturned near Bansawali Bagh village on Ambala-Jagadhri road on Saturday. The condition of five persons was stated to be serious. The canter was carrying more than 60 persons when the driver lost the control of the vehicle.
All the injured were rushed to the MM Medical College Hospital, Mullana. The seriously injured persons were admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. Three kanwarias returning from Haridwar were also injured in the accident. They were discharged after receiving first aid. They were identified as Deepak, Tikku and Pankaj, all from Punjab.
The five injured passengers whose condition was stated to be serious were identified as Shashi, Gurdev, Ram Kumar, Sanjiv and Surinder. The Mullana police have registered a case against the canter driver for negligent and rash driving.
