10 kids with AIDS identified in Nahan

Nahan, January 31 The AIDS Control Society, Himachal Pradesh, has identified 10 children suffering from AIDS since birth in the area. Parents of all these children are also AIDS patients. The society has started efforts to arrange for funds for these children. The health department received Rs 75,000 as financial help till March 31 for these children. The Chief Medical Officer, Sirmaur, said the funds had been received and would be distributed after confirmation of the disease by doctors.

As per reports, most AIDS patients belonging to Paonta area are from poor families. The funds will be given on the basis of age. A sum of Rs 300 per month will be given to patients below three years of age, Rs 400 for 4-6 years, Rs 500 for 7-9 years, Rs 600 for 10-12 years and Rs 700 to children between 13 and 15 years.

Society members said a total of 17 AIDS patients in Sirmaur area were identified, of which 11 were men and six women. They said financial aid for children would be deposited in banks.
