Debdatta Ghosh, a student of Jogmaya Devi Collage, said that 15 girls have been marked absent in the physics practical paper in their marksheets.

“When we went to CU, we were asked to provide evidence that we actually took the examination. Now, we can neither fill up review forms nor apply for any other competitive exams,” she added.

Gargi Nath, principal of Jogmaya Devi College, said, “There seems to be some miscommunication on the part of university. We have written to them about it.”

Meanwhile, about 15 students sat on a hungerstrike at the College Street campus of Calcutta University today, demanding re-examinations of pass papers.

According to a new university norm, if a student fails to qualify in the two pass papers in first year of the three-year graduate course, he will not be allowed to qualify for the second year.

The striking students began their protest today afternoon. They also wanted to meet Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) Suranjan Das, but were stopped by the police. At 5 pm, the students decided to go on a hungerstrike. The authorities of CU conducted a meeting later in the evening.
