This is what happens once emergency stop gap measures have to be taken upon orders of top politicians, once their very own political survival gets threatened by decades of neglect, myopia, and in nutshell performance impotency. The high loss ratio of elite forces is utterly unacceptable. It tells what kind of modern weapons they are provided to fight. Modern night vision devices and tactical force multiplier devices are needed for forces of modern India, as otherwise the terrorists have better arms and ammunition most of the time. Easily available AK-47 is still considered one of the most versatile and lethal compared to other weapons; only superior training and weaponery and devices can checkmate the disease of terrorism now. Those jawans who are killed, should be given the highest honour, and our politicians dishonoured for failing in their commitment to our forces, and not having a vision to modernise them beyond the time frame of their own election. Simple and transparent, it is now clear, where the blame lies. Another front, where loss is more utter, is lack of development of long term policies that attack the root causes of terrorism.
