Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar, and adjoining areas with the help of a team of paediatric cardiac surgeons from Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore.
The surgeries will be conducted free of cost with necessary funds being generated by Grecian Hospital through contributions and donations, apart, of course, from its own share of highly subsidised surgical and post-operative care procedures.
This was informed today by Dr Shivpreet Singh Samra, MD, Grecian Hospital, while addressing a joint press conference with Avinash Rai Khanna, Member of Parliament, Hoshiarpur.
Interestingly, the 11 selected children hailing from lower socio economic strata of society have been identified from amongst a crowd of over 16,000 patients, who attended a three-day health mela organised by Avinash Rai Khanna at Garhshankar under National Rural Health Mission.
Khanna revealed that a number of patients detected with congenital heart disorders were diagnosed and shortlisted during the camp but the obvious choice to facilitate surgeries were needy poor kids.
Providing an insight into the previous surgeries conducted relatively free of cost by Grecian Hospital, Dr Shachi Joshi Samra, Director, Grecian Hospital, informed that over 14 kids have already benefited from Grecian’s ongoing programme to perform complex cardiac operations last year.
Appealing further for funds, Dr Shivpreet Samra called upon the public at large to donate generously for the surgeries which would cost a whopping Rs 65,000 per head.
