Pune, March 12 In an attempt to encourage talented students in the State, the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) has come up with an idea of APU awards for the school-children. The 11 selected students will have an opportunity to pursue their undergraduate studies in Japan at the Ritsumeikan APU besides some attractive cash prizes.

“The final 11 students will be selected at the function to be held at S M Joshi hall on Friday,” said Saee Haldule, in-charge of India office of the university. “We have short-listed 40 students from around 600 applications we received from all over Maharashtra. The idea behind conducting the whole exercise is to promote talented students and give them opportunity to experience the education system in Japan. The final 11 students will be given full scholarship for their undergraduate programmes in the Ristumeikan APU,” she said.

Before the prize distribution programme, Ristumeikan APU has arranged an education forum at S M Joshi hall between 2 pm to 4.30 pm, which is open for students free of cost. Vasudha Garde, director of international students centre at university of Pune, will speak on a new focus on studying abroad while some experts will be deliberating on the educational opportunities in Japan.
