The injured were admitted to IGMC Hospital. Fortunately, there were causalities in the mishap. The bus was going from Shimla to Dhamoon village, and the accident occurred at about 4 pm.
The hospital authorities said that the injuries were of a minor nature, and the condition of all the injured persons is stable. According to the police, about 30 passengers were on board when the accident took place.
As per the passengers, the bus was going downhill on a high speed, due to which the driver could not negotiate the curve. After rolling down, once the bus got stuck in a tree, which proved to be godsend for the passengers. The driver Jagdish has also been injured.
The passengers complained that the road is also in a bad state, and has not been repaired for many years. The Pradhan of Bayechri, Jagdish Chand, told The Indian Express that an accident had occurred at the same spot about one and half years ago. The bus was going uphill but went off the road, as the weak retaining wall along the road gave in.
“The spot is still dangerous as the retaining wall is weak, and the curve is sharp. Despite many requests, the government has not taken any remedial measures,” said Jagdish Chand. No inquiry has been ordered into the accident so far. Sub Divisional Magistrate Man Singh Verma visited the hospital and gave financial help for the treatment of the injured persons.
