Lucknow On Sunday, 13-year-old Jaspreet Kaur got a commendation from the police for bravery after she caught a man who had snatched her mother’s gold chain and tried to make a break for it.

The incident occurred in Naka Hindola area on Sunday afternoon. Jaspreet and her mother Meena Kaur were on their way to the Aishbagh Gurudwara in a rickshaw. Near Aishbagh flyover, two men on a motorcycle came from behind and one of them pulled off Meena’s gold chain. But as they were about to speed away, Jaspreet caught hold of the man on the pillion and pulled him down. “Two younger brothers of Jaspreet were also on another rickshaw, but they were too small,” said Bazar Khala police station in-charge Narendra Kumar. Seeing the scuffle between the girl and the man the pedestrians came rushing, caught the man and handed him over to the police. The culprit was identified as Dharmendra Gupta. After questioning Gupta, the police managed to catch his accomplice. Both are residents of Naka Hindola. Jaspreet is a student of Class VIII at Akal Academy in Naka Hindola. Her father Amarjeet is a businessman.
