Panchkula A 26-year-old man from Panchkula was booked on Monday for allegedly raping a minor girl for nearly three months. The 15-year-old victim is a resident of Bhainsa Tibba village in Mansa Devi complex, Panchkula. The accused is yet to be arrested.

While the victim’s father claims to have registered a complaint on February 26 at the Sector-5 police station, which was also accepted, a formal case was registered only on Monday.

“The police are not doing anything. My daughter was being threatened and raped by Chanderbhan, a driver, for the past three months,” said the victim’s father, Prakash, in his complaint.

His complaint further read, “In December, the accused forcibly dragged her inside his house and raped her. Thereafter, the accused raped her several times in secluded areas and nearby forests.”

The family members also claimed that the accused had threatened them with dire consequences, if they reported the matter to the police.

While Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sector-5 police station Inspector Baljit Singh said, “We are yet to receive the complaint from the office of the Superintendent of Police,” it was on the intervention of Panckula SP Amitabh Dhillon, that an FIR was registered on Monday.

“I have joined recently. I will see how and why the delay took place in the registration of the case,” said Dhillon.

The accused has been booked on charges of rape, criminal intimidation and kidnapping.
