Mumbai Sixteen students from Bandra were admitted to the Bhabha Hospital for food poisoning late on Sunday night.

The children consumed fruit of a poisonous wild plant following which they started vomiting and complained of loose motions.

Chief Medical Superintendent of Bhabha Hospital, Dr Seema Mullick, said that the patients are stable and will be under observation for 24 hours before being discharged.

The children from Bharat Nagar slums in Bandra were playing cricket on Sunday evening when the incident took place. “When one of them went in search of a ball amidst grass and wild shrubs, he spotted a fruit of a poisonous plant.

Amused by the look of the fruit, these children ate it and then fell ill,” said a police official from BKC police station. No case has been registered yet, said the police.
