Indicting the Delhi Police, the court said that "instead of showing their allegiance to the rule of law, our Constitution and the oath taken by them, a better part of their course was found toeing line of their political rulers".
Convicts Mangal Sen alias Billa, Brij Mohan Verma and Bhagat Singh, all in their 60s now, were also fined Rs 6.20 lakh by Additional Sessions Judge Surinder S Rathi after being held guilty of attempt to murder, rioting, dacoity in Shastri Nagar, north Delhi.
The court slammed the Delhi police and the Government for its inability to tackle the riots that followed the assassination of the then PM Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.
"History would never forgive the police officials who were at the helm of affairs and the government of the day for their unprecedented slothful and quiescent role.
"But for the contrived inaction and sluggish response of Delhi police and the Government of the day, scores of priceless lives and valuable property could have been saved," the court noted.

sure why not wait another 25 yrs, what a waist of time these goons need to be shot and end the story
these convicted criminals should be punished as per the justice system without their political affiliations and same should apply for Modi , Gujarat government and police officials.
Finally someone got punished in 1984 roits case but still there a long way to justice for the people who suffered at the hands of so called democratic indian goverment, who got its own citizen killed in most brutal and inhuman way,Yep the congress is responsilble for those roits.More than 5000 innocent sikhs were murdered including three of my family members,MY dad, my grandfather and my uncle. my house was burnt.All big poloticians who were responsible for this genocide are still ruling india.Putting big question mark on indian justice system.CBI work as a puppet of the goverment.I have no hope from indian justice system,its democracy and puppet prime minister.Once i was a patrotic indian but now i have that bitterness which will remain with me till i live.indian prime minister few months back asked people to forget 1984, i will ask him just because he did not lost any love ones in that roits and being loyal to his congress will serve his purpose,its easy for him to say those words.

The life imprisonment awarded to the Congress goons,who were involved in the 1984 genocide of innocent Sikhs in Delhi,is of little solace,because the sentence has come too late and only pawns haver been punished .The main culprits,the Congress leaders,are still at large,enjoing life.The justice would not be complete till the top Congress leaders,who planned and maticulously carried out the daibolic genocide of the innocent Sikhs to please rajiv Gandhi,who openly and shamelessly instigated them to committ the most heinous crime.

What's about the Congressi 'big fish' ? It seems Congi fish have escaped again as usual.
It's well come decesion from the court but due to delay and the top figures involved seems not pretty reasonable what ever happens in the country if police or administration is not able to protect the common public and try to divide them on the basis of religion or culture or caste should be prosecuted in the court of law so they will get proper justice as well.Looks India is going on right direction by punishing the culprits but more needs to be done in fast and sincere way.
It took nearly 35 years to convict them !Shame on Indian Judiciary and the Police Dept.!!Innocent lives can never come back but it would be some satisfaction at least. But, what about their God fathers in Congress?? Any conviction??
Just punish the top leaders for htere political motives.Congress leaders for Sikh riots and blunder of partitioning India by not excepting muslim demand of 1/3 seats in parliament.Punish BJP top leaders for Babri mosque, Gujarat riots and other massacres of burning christians missionaries.
