Mumbai, February 7 The Mumbai Police Crime Branch recently arrested two aides of fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari, who were allegedly involved in firing at the Kandivli (West) office of a real estate company in December last year, in which a sales executive was injured. According to the police, provisions of MCOCA will be applied against them. The two have been identified as Suraj Puran Bahadur (24) and Ravindradil Bahadur Thapa (41). They were picked up from Byculla on January 28 and were arrested after questioning. They are currently under police custody till February 15.

“On December 21 last year, two persons entered the office of Ekta Developers in Kandivli and opened fire inside the office before fleeing. One round was fired and a sales executive , Ashok Mankar was hit just below his left shoulder and was rushed to hospital,” said Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Rakesh Maria.

The police recovered a 0.315 mm handgun with two live cartridges from Bahadur, which is the weapon used in the commission of the crime.

“They are both Ravi Pujari aides, and were promised a sum of Rs 2 to 3 lakhs to carry out the firing. However, they only received Rs 500 each. Pujari has been threatening the concerned developer for extortion unsuccessfully for the past three years, and police protection has been given to the developer and his family. Unable to get to him, Pujari ordered the firing at the office,” said Maria.
