Lucknow In broad daylight, a contractor and his partner were shot by three motorcycle-borne assailants in Civil Lines area of Etawah on Monday. The police also recovered an illegal .32 bore pistol from the possession of the contractor.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Etawah Kripa Shanker Singh said: “Primary investigation revealed that the shootout was orchestrated by contractor Santu Chauhan’s friend-turned foe Manohar Bhadauria. Both had been co-accused in over a dozen criminal cases including that of murder.”

“The duo entered into an enmity over some personal issues in 2004 and Bhadauria had made a near fatal attack on Chauhan in 2006,” said Singh.

The incident occurred around 3.40 pm when Chauhan and his business partner Babloo Yadav were about to leave a petrol pump in Civil Lines. The duo was riding a motorcycle when three youths on another motorbike intercepted them. The youths opened indiscriminate fire at Chauhan, said Dharm Veer Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Police. The injured were taken to the district hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. Chauhan and Yadav had a contract of the parking lot at the Nagar Mahapalika, added Veer.
