New Delhi Two of the five men who had escaped in a white car (Santro) just as the police had cornered their associates were detained after they surrendered in a news channel’s office in Noida on Monday evening.

Harpal and Nader went to the Sahara Samay office and claimed that they fled the spot in panic after hearing gunshots, the police said. They countered the police claim that there were five men inside the car and said there were just two of them.

“We are in no way involved with the gang. We fled because we panicked. And we came to the TV channel so that we are not picked up illegally. Now at least the public will hear our version,” one of them said.

The police said there claims were being verified. “We have detained them for questioning,” Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.
