The incident took place at 2.35 am at sector 97 near UNITECH plot after the terrorists, travelling in a white Maruti car, opened fire on the ATS team, leading to an exchange of fire between the two sides.
"One of the terrorists, while being taken to hospital identified himself as Farooq, a resident of Okara in Pakistan, and his companion as Abu Ismail from Rawalakot (POK)," UP Additional Director General of Police Brij Lal told a press conference in Lucknow.
"Two AK-47 assault rifles, four magazines, 120 rounds of ammunition, five hand-grenades, nine suspected RDX rods, detonators, a Pakistani passport and Rs 18,000 were recovered from the terrorists," Lal said.
"The passport recovered from Farooq bears the name Ali Ahmed, resident of Rahimyaar Khan in Pakistan," the ADGP said, adding some documents like identity cards and diaries were also recovered from them.
"We are verifying the documents," he said.
The officer said the ATS team had been working for the past one month on a terrorist module and around midnight on Saturday night, it got the information that the two persons, equipped with AK-47 rifles, in a white Maruti car were trying to enter Delhi from Lalkuan in Ghaziabad.
The ATS unit deployed at Amity outpost saw the suspected vehicle coming at around 2.15 am and tried to stop it, on which the terrorists opened fire at the team, he said.
In the retaliatory fire, the two terrorists and an ATS personnel Vinod Kumar Singh were injured, Lal said.
The ATS team was also assisted by the Noida police during the operation.
The injured were rushed to the hospital, where the two terrorists were declared brought dead by the doctors, the officer said, noting that the constable was out of danger.
"We are probing what the terrorists were up to and who were their local contacts," the ADGP said.
The UP police was already on high alert in the run up to the Republic Day celebrations, he said.

How these people entering our country? Every incident idicate Pak terrorists getting enough support from inside the country. They are travelling with weapons hundreds of miles in luxury cars. Who are providing them the facilities. Trace the people that supporting the terrorists and shoot them at site. Indian laws and its loop holes allowing them to escape with unhurt. The same time we must stop all kind relations with Pakistan.

Raj Thackary mentioned that UP is the den of terrorism. Is there anyone out there who presents the truth better then him? No. These terrorists were trying to enter Delhi inspite the fact that security is the tightest that ever has been. So either they were the most stupid men on earth , carrying their passports ?? If and when the police are unburdened of their political duties ie, answering to their political masters, india will have one of the best police forces in the world. Additionally police forces need a vast increase in manpower,professional training, better and contnual upgrading of training and hitech equipment. Last but most importantly excellent PR with the general public so they earn the respect of the people and are percieved as friend and not with scepticism/ hostility. This will take time to achieve but if the will is there then their quality of work will keep improving and will have lot more success like this one and reduce terrorist attacks to a minimum or come close to eliminating it entirely.
The terrorists have got impetous from the local politicians like Amarsing,Mulayansing,Mayawati,Antulay,Digvijaysing,Lalloo,Paswan who have all supported the Paki Terrorists attack in Mumbai.The country is now reaping what has b een sawed by this fifth coloumists.

It is comendable that the poliche have done this. But that bags the question , as to whetherthose killed in such encounters are always pakistanis who pass on information just beforeswitching off. Individuals involved in encounters should never get any direct/indirect benefits comparedto other unfortunate employees in their setup. That wil see a drop in such events.
How can one confirm whether it was a fake encounter or real encounter? It is the same 'ATS' which Hindu fanatics criticize to be cooking stories against Col.Purohit,Sadhvi Thakur,Pandya,etc. The pro-RSS Hindu fanatic officers are after the blood of innocent Muslims. They may kill innocent Muslims living in the villages of India and later declare that they have killed Pakistani terrorists in an encounter!!!! They will receive awards - Ashok chakra, Sarvarkar Samman, etc. for their heroic actions!!!!

If they are Pakistanis, how did they enter India, as our borders are fully guarded by our army? If they had entered legally, did the authorities allow them to move freely inside our country without monitoring their movements?How did they receive AK-47, hand grenades, RDX explosives,etc.? Are these items missing from the stock of Indian army?If they had possessed so much weapons, why didn't they use it against the police? Why doesn't our police display their bodies to the public and their photos in the newspapers and television channels?
Are Hindu fascists who support Hindu terrorist bombers like Col.Purohit,Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and Pandya are now appreciative of ATS? When the same ATS discovered the terrorism of these Hindu terrorists, they were chanting that ATS is anti-Hindu, Karkare was anti-Hindu though Karkare was belonging to a higher caste Brahmin family. Similarly, some may dispute this encounter killing also. The police tells that they received information on the whereabout of the slain terrorists. Who was that informant and what is his/her relation with them?The police states that the slain terrorists had AK-47 assault rifles, handgrenades,RDX rods,etc. still the police team other than one did not suffer any injury(impartial investigators should check the type of his injury to know whether it was self-inflicted or inflicted by his colleagues to justify the 'encounter' killing).It is noteworthy that the slain terrorists were a part of the martyrdom force. Here the police team appears to be very courageous!!
