Chandigarh, May 16 Though the civil services exam result this year has been a bit disappointing with none from Chandigarh making it to the top five unlike last year, around 20 aspirants from the tricity have cleared the exam.

Khushboo Goyal, who ranked 249 last year, stood 10th in the exam. Others who have done well are Rupanjali Kalsia from Mohali (rank 53), Puneetinder Singh (rank 115), Rajiv Rattan (rank 134), Princy Singla (rank 221) and Deepika Mohan (rank 234).

Said Khushboo Goyal, “I was already expecting a good result as I had put in a lot of hard work. Ultimately, it is the hard work pays. I owe my success to my parents and it is all because of them and God’s grace that I have scored so well.”

Khushboo, an all-rounder throughout, has done her schooling from Carmel Convent in Chandigarh and Masters in Business Administration from Delhi University. Said her father, Ashok Goyal, said, “My daughter has worked very hard and I am really proud of her. Even her elder sister is an IAS officer and is working in Delhi.” Khushboo’s mother Sunita, is a housewife.

Rupanjali Kalsia cracked the exam in her third attempt. A law graduate from Panjab University, Rupanjali said she always wanted to become a civil servant. Attributing her success to her parents, she said, “My family has always supported me and believed in me. I also believe that the right guidance is very important to achieve success.”

Her father, R L Kalsia, has retired as a civil servant from Punjab and her mother, Dr Krishna Kalsia, retired this year as the Head of Punjabi Department in GCG, Sector 11.

Others from the tricity who have made it to the top ranks include Laganpreet Sandhu (rank 247), Varinder Kaur (rank 354) and Gauri Parasher (rank 432).
