The incident took place near Vikas Gruh Girls’ Hostel in Ellisbridge area around 12.30 pm on Saturday. Mrugha Pandya, a resident of Manekbaug area and the accused, was later arrested on charges of causing grievous hurt and rash driving.
According to the police, Pandya lost control and hit a scooter parked near a pan shop close to Vikas Gruh. After tossing the two-wheeler on the roadside, she hit two scooters, two motorcycles and a few bicycles parked nearby. One Jignesh Parmar was hit and injured in the process. But Pandya rushed the injured man to a city hospital in an emergency van belonging to the state government. He is presently under treatment there. Pandya, who had left her car at the accident site, was arrested from her residence later in the evening. Based on a complaint filed by an eyewitness and owner of one of the damaged vehicles,
Sanmukh Madhuvala, the police booked Pandya under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. “Pandya is being questioned and our investigations are on,” said Inspector H M Kundliya of Ellisbridge police, late on Saturday.
