The police said Gitika took the extreme step after not being able to complete the cinematography course she was pursuing from Pune. “We got a call from her father that she has committed suicide,” a senior police officer said.
The incident occurred at house number 36, RD block.
Gitika father told the police that she was unhappy with the progress of her studies: “She was studying in Pune and had come to Delhi for few days. She had expressed her dissatisfaction with the cinematography course.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northwest district, N S Bundela said it was a case of suicide and they have taken statements of parents.
The police said the body was handed over to the family after postmortem at a government hospital. Further investigations in the case are on.
