Briefing Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble on progress in the probe into the Mumbai incident, Gilani said Pakistan is committed to a "transparent, prompt and professional" investigation of the incident to ensure security and peace in the region.
Gilani "hoped that India will respond positively and provide substantial evidence and material to the Federal Investigation Agency (for) successful prosecution of those culprits in Pakistan who are involved in the Mumbai terror attacks” said an official statement.
Pakistan is also committed to sharing information regarding the Mumbai attacks with Interpol, he told Noble.
Pakistan is currently awaiting India's response to 30 questions seeking further information on the Mumbai attacks. The queries were handed over on February 12 along with Pakistan's response to the Indian dossier on the incident.
Authorities in Pakistan have arrested six suspects in connection with the Mumbai attacks. Four of the suspects – Lashker-e-Taiba activists Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah, Abu al Qama and Hamad Amin Sadiq have been remanded to the FIA's custody till March 17 by an anti-terrorism court.
The suspects are facing charges under the anti-terror and cyber crime laws. Pakistan officials have said they need further information from India for their successful prosecution.
Noble is visiting Pakistan for the second time after the Mumbai attacks at Gilani's invitation to share information on the FIA's investigation into the incident.
The statement said Noble was "highly appreciative of the transparency" shown by Pakistan's political leadership in "ensuring a prompt and professional probe followed by registration of a criminal case" against persons "who had a role in planning or facilitating the culprits" responsible for the carnage in Mumbai.
Noble thanked the Pakistan government for sharing the information that had been provided to India on February 12 as well as the "pertinent questions that need to be answered soon by the Indian authorities for finalization of investigation by the FIA and for successful prosecution of the case in Pakistan".
The Interpol chief met interior ministry Chief Rehman Malik on Friday, who gave him the information Pakistan had provided to India through diplomatic channels.

Why at all do we get into this farce ? Did the Americans provide proof of 9/11 ?They took action that they deemed fit Can we not do that albiet on a smaller scale ? We may not invade Pakistan but the least we can do is to infiltrate into Pakistan and liquidate the perpetrators of this horrible crimeWhen will our spineless Government act ?
Instead of asking India the questions there is lots of questions that Pakistan neds to ask itself.Having supported finacialy and moraly the terrorism activity in India what it is going to stop it.It is open secrete that Pakistan spy network calitivated , trained and harnessed terrorism.When is Pakistan going to shut these links?What pressure if any is being applied to the Pakistan Government to stop supporting insurgency in India.Like there is a saying what you sow what you reap.What happend at Lahore is a perefect example of this.
This just explains how difficult Pakistan is to deal with. It continues to take a public posture that is like a tennis match - play ball game. I send some information and wait untill I get response. Whereas the reality is Pakistan is responsible for creating a sound case and not India. It's chaotic out there and we only have to pray that Pakistan is seriously thinking of dismantling the terror network and hopefully still has the capability to do so.Also, if you see the blog space there is such mis-information and hatred created in Pakistan public opinion. Things like, India is responsible for the Lahore attack!!! I think, as much as we want to deal with a fragile, weak civilian government, we have to devise ways to engage the public at large. It's probably called CBMs, but not sure how they reach individual civilians in Pakistan and if there is a perceptible change. Remember, the Pakistani elite is not the audience, it's the masses. Should we be reaching out to masses in Pak?
It's the best time for the world to attack Pakistani based terrorists hideouts.Political termoil,worst security situation and Unwillingness of Pak officials to act swiftly on perpetrators of Mumbai's 26/11 attack. Present situation is utmost dangerous for South east Asia.The early action will save the region going into the hands of Muslim Fanatics.
What Gilani has failed to get into his thick head is that it is more important and a matter of great urgency to, first, dismantle the Paki terror infrastructure. He is trying to mislead the world that India is not cooperating in dealing with terrorism in Pak by not answering Pak's questions, most of which must be worthless. The fact that Pak has put many questions, when matters that count are clear, is an indication that Pak is not honest about taking action. With a scoundrel as Gilani at the helm of affairs, Pak can hardly expect to have peace.
