US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher, has said those involved in the Mumbai terror attacks have links in Pakistan.
"I would say it's clear that they had links in Pakistan, that the attackers had links that lead to Pakistani soil" Boucher said in Islamabad on Monday, according to transcripts released by State Department in Washington on Wednesday.
"And as far as exactly what those links were and who they were attached to and how they did this, I think that's a matter that's still under investigation," Boucher told reporters in response to a question.
Boucher, who talked with Pak leadership on this issue at length, reiterated that whoever was involved in this, needs to be held responsible. "But I also wouldn't jump to any particular conclusions," he said.
"It's important that anybody who was involved in this, in the planning and execution of this act, be brought to justice and held accountable. I think leaders in Pakistan are determined to do that. They're determined to pursue the investigation. And we'll have to watch as it unfolds to see where it leads," he said.
When asked about evidence given by India to Pakistan on Mumbai attacks, Boucher refrained from passing any judgment at this stage as the investigations were still on.
"I think we're at the stage where people need to share information, follow up leads, and determine everything they can about what happened," Boucher said.

We all know Pakistan produce criminals, but it is also true that politicians of both the countries will never come forward to solve it. USA is only concern about their security. That's why they are at Pakistan keeping eye on their activities. The bottom line is Ordinary people, NSG commandos, Indian Army and police mans are out there to sacrifice their life for our Self centric politicians. In this country Abhinav Bindra got Cores of Rupees from India government bit NSG commandos will get bad comments from our politicians. Most of our Politicians are not educated enough. IAS/IPS has to listen to them, can you imagine it. Politicians are law makers and law breakers.Politicians are not answerable to anyone.India is not a poor country but politicians made us poor. This should come to an end.How come politicians can decide our fate ?
Why don't we take strong action against Pakistan, in terms of economical, political, cultural etc. We also need to send back to all those people came to India for participating in cultural activities. Still we can see some people from Pakistan in some of our TV programmes. I do not know why these channels are entertaining those people. We have to teach the idiots of pakistan a lesson which they never forget.
Mr Boucher, Asstt Secretary of State, US has lost his moral authority to comment on the issue after he received the award from Pakistan. He should explain what for he got the award - is it for supporting Pakistan to develop terrorist infrastructure or just for the love of Pakistani's. It has been the habit of all US officials starting from Condoliza Rice to Boucher and others to tell something in India and something in Pakistan. If US is honest, they should have clearly said that India should take similar action to destroy terrorist camps in Pakistan as is being done by US in Afganistan/Pakistan and by Israel in Gaza. Anything less than this is just a dishonest statement and fraught with discrimination. Further, US should also acknowledge and accept that these terrorists in Pakistan have got money, material and other support from the US in the past and what they are today is because of the US.
Boucher .Thanks for this discovery .you have better intelligence that ours .You konw the depth of this terror network as you have created and armed them to use against the soviters .You still feed them with billions of dollars in guise of war or terror bu you know that the money is actually used to commit terror attacks in Afgan and India .which in any case you need to justify your presence in this region so that its easy for you to access Iran and Georgia and check the Russian advacement in this region . We also understand that the Pakistan watch dog is no more under your control and you cannot unleash it as it may eat up your interests and you have no option but feed it with US tax payers money no matter they are going to terrorise the whole world
IT IS FOOLISH AND CHILDISH TO EXPECT THE USA TO PUT PRESSURE ON PAKISTAN TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE TERRORIST WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MUMBAI ATTACK. THE USA IS SHOWING LIP SYMPATHY TO INDIA AND NOT DOING ANY THING CONCRETE. BECAUSE THEY NEED PAKISTAN MORE THAN INDIA. THEY USA WILL NEVER TAKE A STAND AGAINST PAKISTAN BECASUSE THEY NEED PAK"S HELP TO CARRY OUT THEIR MISSION IN AFGHANISTAN. IF INDIAN POLITICIANS AND BUREAUCRACY BELIVES THAT USA WILL BE WITH INDIA IN THIS CRISIS, THEY ARE JUST DAY DREAMING.
BOUCHER WAS CLEARLY LOCKED DURING HIS PAK VISIT BY AWARDING THE HIGHEST HONOUR OF THE STATE. AS EVERYTHING HAPPENS, ONE NEED NOT WONDER, WHETHER THE HIGHEST AWARD IS SO CHEAP !! THEY CAN SELL THEIR COUNTRY EVEN IN SHORT NOTICE. PATRIOTISM TAKES A BACK SEAT THERE. NO ONE THINK OF THEIR COUNTRY, ITS PROGRESS. ALL ARE BUSY TO MAKE MONEY, WHETHER THROUGH NARCOTIC SALE, WEAPON SALE OR MURDERS. THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF IS A FORMER EXPERT OF IT. BOUCHER MADE THIS VAGUE STATEMENT TO SAVE HIS SKIN FOR ALLEGATIONS THAT HE WAS BRIBED AND MADE TO SHUT UP OR PRESSURES MOUNTED FROM AMERICA; AS THE STATEMENT ACTUALLY CAME OUT FROM THERE. WE ARE SEEING STATEMENTS ONLY WHILE THE BEREAVED FAMILY OF ALL THOSE DECEASED ARE STILL MOURNING THE DEATH OF THEIR DEARS AND NEARS. CHIDAMBARAM HAD ALREADY TALKED OF THE CAST IRON PROMISES FROM PAKISTAN, LIKE A SCHOOL TEACHER.
