Shimla The citizens of Shimla gave a rousing welcome to Brigadier G S Sisodia today. Brigadier Sisodia, who belongs to Shimla, played and important role in the combat operation at the Taj Hotel during the terrorist attack. He is presently posted as DIG Training and Operations in NSG.

Brigadier Sisodia celebrated his 54th birthday with the people of Shimla. Answering queries during an open interactive session at the amphitheatre of the Gaiety Theatre, he said,”Terrorists are like rats that stray into our house from the fields. The strategy to deal with them should be thought of accordingly.”

A lot of people gathered to interact with him and congratulated him for his nomination for the Visisth Sewa Medal.

“The strategy was to frustrate and suffocate the terrorist for space. We attacked them from all sides, and cornered them before launching a direct attack,” said Brigadier Sisodia.

Replying to a query he said, “We worked like machines for those three days. We did not think of sleeping, and no one realised how the time flew while the operation was on.” Narrating some of the memories of the operation, he said, “Commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was going up the central staircase to a dark room. Sensing danger, he stopped others from following him and then we lost him. At that time we were not affected by what was going around us, but it has etched deep in our memory.”
