Lucknow, March 4 A 28-Year-Old woman, Mala Awasthi, was found dead at her residence in Para colony under Talkatora police circle on Tuesday morning.

Her husband Pankaj Awasthi, who is an insurance agent, alleged that some men forcibly entered his house on late Monday night and started beating them up with sticks and bricks.

He is at present recuperating at the CSMMU’s Trauma Centre.

The police, however, are not convinced by Pankaj’s deposition. “We are not totally believing Pankaj’s story because nothing is missing from the house,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Paresh Pandey.

They said that relations between Pankaj and Mala were not very good.

“When we entered the house, we found Mala lying on the floor in a pool of blood, while Pankaj was lying on the bed”, said Station Officer, Talkatora police circle, Sanjay Kumar Pandey.

“We have learnt that Pankaj was involved in a land dispute case with a neighbour”, said a police officer, adding that they are also probing into that angle.

Today morning, when Nacho, who works as a maid at Awasthi’s residence, found Mala dead and Pankaj injured. She, then, immediately informed the neighbours who called the police.
