3 from Uttar Pradesh arrested with foreign-made pistol

Mumbai, February 25 Acting on a tip-off by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS), officers of the Oshiwara police station on Sunday evening arrested three persons for possessing a weapon without having a registration. According to the Oshiwara police, the three arrested persons, identified as Gyansingh Gautam (23), Vinod Narayan Singh (24) and Suraj Kumar (25), are residents of Uttar Pradesh and had come to Mumbai on Sunday morning to sell a foreign made pistol.

“The ATS informed us that three individuals had come to the city to sell an automatic pistol and some ammunition. They were planning to meet the person interested in buying the pistol near Aarti Hotel in Oshiwara at around 7:30 on Sunday evening,” said Senior Police Inspector Kiran Sonone of the Oshiwara police station.

The three were arrested by a team of the Oshiwara police station near the hotel where they had gathered. “Along with the pistol we also recovered two magazines and four live rounds from the trio. The were in possession of a .765 caliber of Italian made pistol worth of which is around Rs 1-1.5 lakhs in the Indian market,” added Sonone.

The three were presented before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate court on Monday and they have been remanded to police custody till Friday.
