Ludhiana, March 3 Three people were injured in a head-on collision between two scooters near the Department of Agronomy.

According to eye-witnesses, one of the scooters was being driven by second-year students of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and the other by a PAU printing press employee, Satpal Sharma. The students have been identified as Kulwinder Singh and Anubhav Khurana.

All the three were rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

Sharma is learnt to have sustained serious head injuries and his condition is stated to be serious. Anubhav received minor scratches and Kulwinder Singh sustained a fracture in the nose along with a few scratches.

Dr Daljit Singh Pooni, Incharge of the GADVASU hospital, said considering the nature of Sharma’s injuries, he had to be sent to DMCH after first aid.

The accident occurred at a square near Department of Agronomy. Only a month ago, there had been a collision between a motorcycle and a car at the same spot.

Said PAU Security Officer H S Dhillon, “There is a dire need to check speeding in PAU. The usual practice is that two or three boys sit on a two-wheeler and then move about the campus at a very high speed. We are putting up barriers on the busiest roads in PAU. Road-blocks have been put up on the stretch from the canal side and on the road coming from the veterinary hospital”.
