Jind Three persons, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), died when the three-wheeler they were travelling in collided with a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Safidon, 20 kilometres from here. The incident occurred around 3 pm

The deceased are ASI Ved Pal of Ding village in Safidon; Raja and Brahmapal, both residents of Jind.

Residents gathered at the spot blamed the Railways for not paying heed to their repeated demands for deployment of staff at the crossing. They also blamed the driver of the three-wheeler for negligent driving.

The police have registered a case in this regard and taken possession of the bodies, which will be handed over to the families after postmortem.

A senior police officer said the Railway authorities would also be asked to deploy staff at the crossing.
