Chandigarh Three medical students were injured after a group of youths from Ludhiana reportedly crossed swords with them at Hotel Aroma early on Sunday morning.

Two of the assailants, identified as Jagdeep and Tanuj, were arrested while the rest managed to flee, said In-charge of the

Sector-22 police post Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh Bullar.

The injured — Arjun and Karan, students of GMCH-32, and Udhay Singh, a student of Dental College in Sector 25 — were admitted in the Sector-16 hospital.

Arjun reportedly sustained several head injuries and doctors stated his condition to be critical.

The incident took place when the medical students raised an objection to the Ludhiana youngsters creating a ruckus in the hotel.

A violent scuffle followed in which the youths attacked the students with swords (kirpan).

A case of rioting, voluntary causing hurt by dangerous weapons and criminal intimidation has been registered against Jagdeep and Tanuj. The police said the hunt is on to trace the remaining accused.
