Sohian Village, July 01 Bus crashed while negotiating sharp turn, the staff were on their way to work; driver booked

Three persons, including two women, were killed and eight others injured when the bus of a private spinning mill overturned while negotiating a sharp curve in Sohian village. The bus was carrying 31 staff members. The injured were rushed to the Jagraon Civil Hospital. The deceasedhave been identified as Ramandeep Kaur (24) and Pinki (20) — residents of village Sidhwaan Khaas and Davinder Singh (40) — a resident of Ubbe village.

The incident occurred early on Tuesday morning, when the staff bus of the Rishabh Spinning Mill, situated in Jodha village, was going towards the Ferozepur road. The bus was passing through Sohian after picking up some women workers of the factory from adjoining villages.

A team of Ludhiana Rural police, including DSP Bhupinder Singh and DSP Satnam Singh, rushed to the spot and began rescue operations with the help of the villagers. The injured persons were rushed to the Civil Hospital of Jagroan from where they were discharged after first-aid. The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families after post mortem.

The police have, meanwhile, registered a case against bus driver Avtar Singh under Section 304(A), 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC. One of the deceased, Davinder Singh, was a relative of Avtar, the police said.
