“Singh fell on the road and was killed on the spot,” a senior police officer said.
Police said Ravinder chased the truck till Bhopara border, where he intercepted the truck and handed over the driver Vinay to the police. Singh is survived by his wife and two sons.
In two other separate accidents in the past 24 hours, a student was killed while six others, including a woman, suffered injuries. In the first accident, a speeding vehicle allegedly hit a student travelling on a bike in IP Estate area of Central Delhi in the early hours of Saturday. Police said the errant vehicle fled the spot after the incident. Police said the deceased, Prabhat Kumar (24), was on his way home when the accident was took place.
The second accident was reported in R K Puram area of South Delhi at 11.15 pm on Friday. Police said a container vehicle and a tempo had a head-on collision in which the tempo turned turtle and injured the six people aboard the vehicle. The driver of the container fled the spot. The injured were given first aid at Safdarjung Hospital. A case has been registered.
