Kolkata Three Trinamool supporters were seriously injured when they were allegedly beaten up by CPM men at Keshpur in West Midnapore district, on their way to Lalgarh to attend Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee’s rally.

Initially, they were admitted to a local hospital but they were shifted to the Midnapore Medical College hospital on Tuesday as their condition had deteriorated.

Trinamool MP Suvendu Adhikary alleged that a complaint has been lodged with the police along with the medical report, but the police did not take any steps.

About 10 Trinamool supporters were attacked by goons allegedly backed by the CPM at Dogachi village, Keshpur, on the way to Lalgarh on Monday. The goons assaulted them with iron rods and fire arms. Most of the Trinamool men escaped but three were seriously injured. Locals found Sekh Kalu, Manjur Ali and Muslem lying beside the road in the evening. They were unconscious and the villagers immediately took them to Keshpur hospital.

West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Manoj Verma said that the police were looking into the incident. After Monday’s rally at Lalgarh, the police were maintaining vigil at various areas to prevent any political clash.
