Fifty persons attending the marriage function, hosted by a family at the Ravi Palace here last night, complained of diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming the food provided by the hotel staff, they said. The affected persons were given primary treatment at various government-run hospitals, the police said.
Samples of the food, collected by the health department of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, have been sent for tests, sources said.
Angry family members ransacked the hotel and damaged the reception counter after hotel authorities failed to listen to their complaints, the police said.
About 250 persons were to attend the function. No complaint has, however, been registered with the police.
