Two teams of doctors were rushed to the spot, as the health officials suspect them to be cases of food poisoning.
“All the affected people belong to the same family and were attending a family gathering on Saturday morning. The food they ate most probably caused
gastroenteritis,” said Dr Hitendra Patel, chairman of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) Health Committee.
A team, including two doctors, was sent to the spot in the afternoon.
“VMC health workers had distributed medicines in the area. The situation was found to be under control and none of them have been admitted,” said Patel.
A suspected case of dengue has also been detected in the area.
The 16-year-old patient, Sohel Arab, has been admitted at a private hospital in the area.
“He was down with fever for the last seven days. After carrying out blood tests in the same hospital, the doctors suspected dengue. He has been in the hospital for two days now,” said A A Arab, the boy’s uncle and a retired police officer.
Meanwhile, VMC Health Officer Dr Dilip Asari and Jetalpur corporator Snehal Srikhande expressed total ignorance about the situation.
