On Tuesday, a Zimbabwean embassy car crushed the young girl in Vasant Vihar. The police said the girl, identified as one Babli, was begging at the traffic signal with her mother and suddenly came in front of the car when the lights turned green. “The driver could not notice the girl and ran her over,” a police officer said.
The incident took place around 6 pm on Rao Tula Ram crossing, on Outer Ring Road. The driver has been identified as one Yusuf, 35; he reportedly drove the girl to the Indian Spinal Injuries Hospital in Vasant. But doctors there declared her dead.
Vasant Vihar police have booked Yusuf for causing death due to rash and negligent driving. The car was not impounded since it is an embassy vehicle.
