3-yr-old girl run over by tempo in Saket

New Delhi, February 13 A three-year-old girl was mowed down by a tempo behind Saket City Walk Mall today when the driver was reversing the vehicle. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot after the incident, police said.

The victim, Rajni's, parents were working in the near by under construction mall at the time of the incident. The incident took place at around 4.30 pm when Rajni was playing with other children near the construction site. The tempo (registration no. DL 1G5938) had come to deliver some construction material.

The driver reversed the vehicle at high speed and did not see Rajni playing. She was rushed to G M Modi Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered at Malviya Nagar Police Station. The police have impounded the vehicle and are trying to trace the driver. The vehicle owner has been traced to Bhogal area.
