4 die, 3 injured after car hits autorickshaw

Vadodara Four persons were killed and three were injured when a Mercedes car hit an autorickshaw from behind, in Borsad town of Anand district.

According to the Borsad police, the driver of the car (GJ-6 BL 1111) escaped from the spot.

The accident happened at 11 pm when the car hit the autorickshaw carrying three persons.

“The car was being driven at a very high speed,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, the police officials in Borsad have contacted Vadodara police to search the car, as it bears a Vadodara registration number.

“This is a clear case of hit and run,” said the official.

All the three passengers who travelled in the auto-rickshaw — Mina Patel, 50, Jyoti Patel, 50, and Phalguni Patel — and the autorickshaw driver, Shabbir Shaikh, 24, died on the spot.

Meanwhile, the injured have been taken to the Borsad Civil Hospital for treatment.
